The Mercedes-Benz W113 SL series, universally nicknamed the "Pagoda," perfectly marries elegant design with advanced engineering from the 1960s and early 70s. Designed by Paul Bracq, the slightly concave removable hardtop earned its famous moniker. Crucially, the Pagoda was a pioneer as the first sports car featuring a "safety body," which included a rigid passenger cell and designated crumple zones, emphasizing Mercedes-Benz's commitment to safety alongside performance.

The 280SL model, built from 1967 to 1971, represents the final and most powerful version of the W113 line. It was powered by a larger 2.8-liter M130 inline-six engine.
