Boxster S 50th Jahre 550 Spyder, #1,350 of 1,953 Built.
The Porsche Boxster, introduced in 1997, revived Porsche's classic mid-engine roadster philosophy, combining modern performance with near-perfect balance. By 2004, the Boxster S had matured into a highly capable sports car. To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary 550 Spyder, Porsche released a special edition that paid homage to the brand's iconic racing heritage, blending nostalgia with contemporary engineering excellence.
The "50 Years of 550 Spyder" special edition was released for the final year of the original 986 generation and featured numerous cosmetic and mechanical upgrades over the standard Boxster S. These special models were produced in strictly limited numbers, with only 1,953 units built globally, representing the year the 550 debuted. This particular car is numbered #1,350 out of 1,953 from the limited production run.
Initially delivered to Autobahn Motorcars of Fort Worth, Texas, this special edition is finished in the exclusive GT Silver Metallic paint—a color derived from the Carrera GT supercar. The car is equipped with a power-operated Cocoa Brown soft top and includes a color-matched removable hardtop. It features the enhanced 3.2-liter Flat-Six engine, which received minor tuning revisions, boosting its output to 264 horsepower. This example is equipped with the desirable five-speed Tiptronic S automatic transaxle.
The interior of this low-mileage car, showing approximately 30k miles, is defined by its luxurious and highly distinctive color palette. It features Cocoa Brown leather upholstery on the heated, power-adjustable seats, dash, and door panels, a rich color chosen to evoke the classic racing era. Comfort and amenities include a Bose sound system, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and automatic climate control. The serialized plaque on the center console proudly denotes its limited-edition status.
Performance enhancements include the standard Sport Suspension system (lowered by 10mm), revised bumpers, stacked exhaust outlets, and factory 18-inch Carrera wheels wrapped in high-performance tires. This special edition stands as a collector-grade expression of the original Boxster, combining an exclusive look, enhanced performance, and a highly optioned interior to perfectly honor Porsche's open-top racing legacy.
